While walking through the woods one day, a fox spotted a beautiful bunch of dark purple grapes, round and ripe.
The fox’s mouth watered and she decided to have them for lunch.
The grapes hung high above her head, so she took a running start and made a great leap, but missed them by a nose and fell to the ground with a thump.
“I was almost there,” said the fox.
She gave herself a longer start and with a One, Two, Three, jumped again and fell again, with an even louder thud. A third time she leaped and a third time she crashed.
Bruised and embarrassed, the fox stuck her nose up in the air and walked away, saying, “Just as well. I’m sure those grapes are as sour as vinegar.”
We disparage the things that are out of our grasp.
